British Hopefuls

Milton Keynes Roller Dance Club was represented at the British Championships by its keenest skaters.  The Championships were held by the Federation of Artistic Roller Skating (FARS) at a new venue in Hayward Heath.  There are a number of different age groups from Cadet, Youth, Junior to Senior as well as Classics.

Abigail Ashton-Brown competed in the Senior Solo Dance and finished in a highly commendable sixth place.  She performed two compulsory dances and lay in seventh place before executing her impressive free dance pulling her up to her sixth place.

Gemma Frith moved up from Youth last year to Junior this year.  After her two compulsory dances she was in ninth place but her personal free dance lifted her to sixth place as a final position.

Adana Robert competed in her first year in Cadet after last year in the Elementary group.  She had two compulsory dances followed by an original set pattern dance (OSP) which resulted in a total placing of seventh which is an improvement over last year.

MK Roller Dance Club are also delighted to report that two of their former skaters were on the rostrum in the Senior Dance Couples Championships.  Carina Storkey with her partner Nicholas Loader won the contest very convincingly and will hope to improve on their performance in the European Championships later in the year.  Becky Evans and Nicholas Perry were an impressive third place in only their first year of skating together.
